Q: Are fireworks permitted on the site?
A: No, fireworks in any form are not permitted on site.
Q: Are vendors permitted to participate in our event?
A: No, the Glenn Carpenter Centre is a Saint John YMCA-YWCA Community Site and any items or goods sold on site (including food and/or alcohol) must be done through the Saint John YMCA-YWCA or the Y’s Men only – no exception.
Q: Is alcohol permitted on site even if we bring our own.
A: In order to provide alcohol for your event you must have an event license from the Government of New Brunswick which you must purchase yourself; this includes beer, spirits, mixed drinks etc. If your event has a cash bar, it must be organized and provided by the Y’s Men’s Club.
Q: We are bringing in supplies for our event can we park near the lodge or picnic shelter?
A: Parking is expressly forbidden past the entry gate to the site (at the end of the lane). There are children participating in day camps from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and they will not be expecting vehicles to drive on site. If you have supplies for your event and it is absolutely necessary, you may drive and stop near the lodge/picnic shelter, however you MUST move your vehicle as soon as possible and park in one of the designated parking areas. This rule also applies on weekends.
Q: Is fishing allowed on the lake?
A: No – there is no fishing allowed in Ashburn Lake.
Q: What is the maximum number of people allowed on site for any event.
A: The maximum people allowed on site for any event is 200 (includes participants and coordinators).
Q: Can I hold my wedding/reception at the Glenn Carpenter Centre?
A: At one time the site was a popular place to hold weddings and receptions, however, the Glenn Carpenter Centre no longer hosts these events.
